Sunflowers
Solo Personal Work
-
As my portfolio mainly contains university work and is very broad regarding my combat designs, I decided to add something different to the mix. Hence, this puzzle project showcases some level design, quest design, and gameplay mechanics in general.
-
At first, I was going to create only the sunflower mechanics, but since I had a lot of space left, I decided to add more and create a bit of a quest around it. The puzzles have been created with an "Easter egg" approach where you don't have a quest to complete; you would just have to find this out yourself. However, since there is no context of what can or can't be done as a game here, I have added a lot of UI to help guide the players through the puzzles as they are intertwined together.
-
I envisioned these puzzle mechanics working well in open-world RPG games such as Zelda or even Souls games, where there could be puzzles and hidden secrets everywhere.
-
I decided to use Unreal Engine 5 and Blueprints for this project as it was lacking in my skill set, as I had only used Unity for university work. It feels good to work with Unreal again and get used to its flow and mechanics. Wireframe and more details coming soon.
